Information Minister inspects Zulum’s mega schools, EV charging terminal in Borno

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has inspected key legacy projects executed by the Borno State Government under Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, including one of the state’s 104 mega schools and a newly installed Electric Vehicle (EV) charging terminal in Maiduguri.

The inspection formed part of activities marking the ongoing strategy meeting for Commissioners of Information from All Progressives Congress (APC)-governed states, taking place in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Accompanied by Borno State Commissioner for Information, Prof. Usman Tar, and information commissioners from other APC states, the minister toured several infrastructure projects showcasing the state government’s investments in education and renewable energy.

The team’s first stop was one of the 104 mega schools named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The facility, built to provide quality education for children affected by insurgency, features modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and sporting facilities.

The delegation also visited the newly commissioned EV charging terminal, described as the largest in Nigeria, which aligns with Governor Zulum’s vision of promoting green energy and modernizing the state’s transport infrastructure.

Speaking to journalists after the tour, Alhaji Idris commended Governor Zulum’s “visionary leadership and commitment to transformative development,” noting that Borno has made remarkable strides in education and infrastructure despite years of insurgency challenges.

“We have seen world-class facilities in the schools built by the Borno State Government — about 104 completed. We have also witnessed significant investments in energy and transportation,” the minister stated.

The minister’s team also visited key federal facilities in Maiduguri, including the Maiduguri Power Plant, the University of Maiduguri Solar Farm, and the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport.

The APC information strategy meeting is expected to conclude on Thursday with a communiqué outlining a coordinated communication framework between the federal government and information commissioners from APC-led states.
