The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, decorated newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force with their new ranks at a ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The event, marked by celebration and pride, highlighted the IGP’s commitment to improving police welfare and rewarding diligence and professionalism. A total of one Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), four Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), and eleven Commissioners of Police (CPs) were decorated during the ceremony.
Those elevated include DIG Mohammed Dankwara; AIGs Denimen Abibo, Umar Madaki, Nkechi Eze, and Garba Nzukwen; and CPs Naziru Kankarofi, Nendel Gomwalk, Tijani Fatai, Aniefok Akpan, and Moorkwap Dongshal, among others.
The promotion exercise, which produced 923 successful officers, was conducted by the Police Service Commission (PSC) through a rigorous and transparent process involving written examinations and interviews, based on recommendations from the IGP.
Distinguished guests at the ceremony included Senator Simon Lalong, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari, Senator Tony Nwoye, Senator Iya Abbas, and Senator Ede Dafinone, among others. Also present were senior government officials, retired police chiefs, and family members of the promoted officers.
In his address, IGP Egbetokun congratulated the officers and urged them to uphold the highest ethical standards, embrace community-oriented and intelligence-driven policing, and adopt innovative strategies to combat emerging security threats.
He reminded the officers that their new ranks come with greater responsibility, urging them to lead with integrity, fairness, and renewed dedication to justice while serving as role models to their subordinates.
