Police launch massive crackdown on criminals across FCT

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has ordered a large-scale security operation to identify and flush out criminal elements across Abuja and its environs.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the operation — which begins in November 2025 and runs through January 2026 — will involve tactical and surveillance teams from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Police Mobile Force (PMF), and Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU). These units will collaborate with Divisional Police Formations and the Department of Operations to ensure sustained security coverage.

The CP said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to maintain the relative peace currently being enjoyed in the FCT. He emphasized that police operatives will dominate identified black spots, criminal hideouts, and vulnerable communities in a coordinated cleanup exercise.

CP Dantawaye warned officers participating in the operation to conduct themselves professionally and adhere strictly to the ethics of the Force, stressing that misconduct or abuse of authority will not be tolerated.

He further urged residents to cooperate with security personnel and remain vigilant by promptly reporting suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.

“For emergencies or prompt response, residents are advised to contact the FCT Police Command Control Room via 0806 158 1938 or 0803 200 3913. The Complaint Response Unit (CRU) can also be reached at 0810 731 4192,” the statement added.

The CP reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and pledged that the ongoing crackdown would be sustained well into 2026 to consolidate peace and security across the Territory.
