Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed away in the early hours of Thursday.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the scholar’s death as a profound loss to Nigeria and the global Muslim community. He said Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi leaves behind “a huge vacuum that will be difficult to fill.”
The Deputy Senate President praised the late scholar’s decades-long commitment to Islamic scholarship, moral guidance and humanitarian service, noting that his teachings influenced millions across Nigeria and beyond.
“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s lifetime of service, his dedication to the Qur’an, tireless preaching, leadership of the Tijaniyya movement, and establishment of Qur’anic schools touched countless lives and strengthened the faith of generations,” Barau said. “He was more than a scholar — he was a father, teacher and guide to millions.”
Senator Barau, who also serves as First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, extended condolences to the deceased’s family, students, the Muslim Ummah and all who drew inspiration from his scholarship and spiritual leadership.
He prayed for Allah to forgive the cleric’s shortcomings, grant him a place in Jannatul Firdaus, and provide comfort to his family and followers.
