Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have recorded major security breakthroughs under Operations Peace Shield and Zafin Wuta, foiling a robbery attack, rescuing kidnapped victims and recovering illegal weapons in separate missions across Taraba State.
In a statement, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army Lieutenant Umar Muhammad said On 6 December 2025, soldiers deployed at Manya responded to a distress call that armed robbers had blocked the Manya–Takum Road and were dispossessing commuters. The troops launched a rapid clearance operation, forcing the criminals to flee and abandon their weapons. A search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, restoring safe movement along the route.
In a separate operation on 7 December, troops in Kufai Amadu acted on credible intelligence after four travellers from Bauchi State were abducted in Amadu Town while heading to Baissa in Kurmi Local Government Area. Investigations showed the men, unfamiliar with the terrain, had stopped to ask for directions before two of them — Mr Musa Danji and Mr Yusuf — were seized by kidnappers and taken towards New City.
A coordinated search-and-rescue mission later led to the successful recovery of two victims, Mr Yusuf Musa and Mr Muhammed Umar, who escaped from captivity. Efforts are ongoing to find the remaining abducted individuals and apprehend their abductors.
Meanwhile, troops deployed at Iware conducted an intelligence-driven operation at Garin Sambo in Tau Village, Ardo Kola LGA, recovering two pump-action guns, 13 cartridges, two motorcycles and four mobile phones. Two suspects, Baba Wura Sambo and Mallam Adamu Darda, were arrested for illegal possession of arms and are currently in military custody.
Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their professionalism and swift response, reaffirming the Brigade’s commitment to sustained offensive operations aimed at eliminating criminal activity across Taraba.
He assured residents and travellers of heightened security measures throughout the Yuletide season and called on the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies.
