President Bola Tinubu has met with All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and governorship aspirants from Osun State, appealing for unity and collective commitment ahead of the party’s December 13 primary election.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
The meeting, held Monday night at the State House in Abuja, brought together key aspirants, including former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke (SAN), Babatunde Hareter Oralusi, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
Also present were APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma; and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
President Tinubu commended the aspirants for their contributions to the party in Osun State and urged them to close ranks, support a unified front, and avoid the internal disputes that contributed to the party’s defeat in the last governorship election.
He emphasised party supremacy and called on the aspirants to support the consensus candidate that will emerge from the party’s process.
“You all have a duty and obligation to the party by ensuring the candidate of our party wins the next election in Osun State. You must strengthen the bonds of unity, party supremacy and collective responsibility. I have absolute confidence in your ability to deliver victory to our party in Osun State,” the President said.
Following the meeting, the aspirants and party leaders issued a joint declaration affirming their commitment to a peaceful process, acceptance of the consensus arrangement, and unified support for the eventual flagbearer.
The statement, signed by all aspirants and leaders present, reiterated their loyalty to the APC, their pledge to uphold party supremacy, maintain internal cohesion, and work collectively to ensure the party’s victory in the 2025 Osun governorship election.
The declaration noted that the decision was made voluntarily and in recognition of the guidance provided by the President and the APC National Chairman.
