The Edo State Police Command has inaugurated the Community Safety Partnership (CSP), a community-driven security initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots policing and enhancing public safety across the state.
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer Edo State Command ASP Eno Ikoedem, said the programme was formally launched on 9 December 2025 at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City. The event, chaired by Rev. Dr. Isaac Itsegoshemen (JP), drew a wide range of stakeholders, including senior government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, business executives, community groups, and security agencies. Dr. Itsegoshemen described the initiative as a timely, inclusive, and strategic approach to security management.
Conceived by the Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, the CSP is designed to expand the reach of policing to all communities while promoting citizen involvement in neighbourhood safety. The platform focuses on trust-building, cooperation, and shared responsibility between law enforcement and the public.
Governor Monday Okpebholo, represented by the Commissioner for Public Security and Safety, Rt. Hon. Festus Ebea, reaffirmed the state government’s support for collaborative security interventions. He commended the Police Command for its forward-looking, community-oriented policing strategy.
In their remarks, CP Agbonika, the CSP Chairman, and the Governor’s representative highlighted the CSP as a crucial tool for enhancing intelligence gathering, improving crime prevention, and fostering collective vigilance across Edo communities.
The Edo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to inclusive, people-centred policing and urged residents to actively partner with the CSP to build a safer and more peaceful Edo State.
