The United States has condemned a horrific attack in Kwara State, Nigeria, which reportedly claimed the lives of more than 160 people, with many others still missing and the final death toll unconfirmed.
In a statement, Washington expressed its deepest condolences to the families affected by the violence, describing the incident as senseless and tragic.
The US welcomed President Bola Tinubu’s swift response, including the deployment of security forces to protect vulnerable villages in the area and his directive for federal and state officials to provide urgent assistance to affected communities.
The statement also commended efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice, emphasizing the need for accountability and protection of civilians in the region.
