Police nab nine armed robbery suspects, recover stolen vehicles and valuables in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested nine suspected members of a notorious armed robbery gang and recovered three stolen vehicles along with other valuables, marking a major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against crime.

Confirming the report, Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests and recovery from Abuja SP Josephine Adeh said the operation followed a report that on January 18, 2026, armed robbers broke into a residence in Jikwoyi, carting away personal belongings, an unspecified sum of money, and a Toyota Corolla with registration number KUJ 549 CW. Acting swiftly, operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad launched an intelligence-driven investigation.

On January 26, 2026, the police traced the gang to their hideout in Nasarawa State, where they were reportedly planning another robbery in the Asokoro area of the FCT. The suspects arrested include Mohammed Yanusa (21), Abubakar Mohammed (20), Isah Salihu (18), Nura Zakare (20), John Paul Itodo (62), Augustin Daudu (30), Musbau Ali (32), Innocent Omale (44), and Usman Mohammed (22).

Recovered items from the suspects include four television sets, eight laptops of various brands, two generators, two solar batteries, one pumping machine, one DJ mixer, club lights, speakers, cooking gas cylinder, LG home theatre, a GOtv decoder, numerous bottles of wine, and three vehicles: a grey Toyota Camry (MUS 234 CW), an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla (KUJ 549 CW), and an ash-coloured Toyota Camry (MKD 372 AU).

Investigations revealed that the stolen vehicles were often sold to receivers in Kaduna and Kano states for between ₦550,000 and ₦650,000. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend these accomplices.

The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations. Residents are urged to report suspicious activities to the FCT Police Command via emergency lines 08032003913 and 08028940883.
