NAF advances gender inclusion at UN CSW70

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to gender inclusion as a key driver of operational effectiveness during its participation at the 70th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70).

The session, held from March 9 to 19, 2026, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, brought together global leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to explore practical strategies for advancing gender equality and strengthening institutional resilience.

NAF was represented by Flight Lieutenant Victory Tombari Gbaraba, who joined delegates from 109 member states, including over 80 ministers, alongside thousands of civil society actors.

Discussions at the forum centred on improving access to justice for women and girls through inclusive and equitable legal systems. Participants highlighted the need to eliminate discriminatory laws, address structural barriers, and promote fairness as essential components of sustainable development and social progress.

In line with the command philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the NAF continues to institutionalise gender inclusion across its operations by integrating female personnel into various specialties and leadership roles.

The Service noted that ongoing investments in capacity development, mentorship, and expanded career opportunities for women are strengthening professionalism and enhancing mission readiness, positioning the force to effectively respond to evolving security challenges while fulfilling its mandate to safeguard the nation.
