Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, has formally resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective March 28, 2026.
In a statement issued on Monday, Aondoakaa said the decision followed extensive consultations with his family, political associates, and supporters, as well as careful personal reflection. He noted that while he remains appreciative of the opportunities he had to contribute to the growth of the party, “prevailing circumstances” necessitated his exit in the interest of his people and democratic principles.
The former minister expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as visionary leadership and for the administration’s attention to Benue State. He also reaffirmed his continued support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Aondoakaa further commended the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, acknowledging his leadership within the APC in Benue State and his role in shaping the state’s political landscape.
He extended appreciation to party leaders and members across Ushongo Local Government Area, the state, and beyond for their cooperation and support over the years, noting that the relationships built remain invaluable.
While urging his supporters to remain calm and peaceful, Aondoakaa hinted at a forthcoming political direction aimed at repositioning Benue State in the broader interest of its people.
No further details were provided, but he assured that his next steps would be communicated in due course.
