In response to a widely circulated video capturing an officer discharging an AK47 rifle in Ladipo Market, the Lagos State Police Command has officially identified the involved individual as Inspector Istifanus Kwanchi, currently serving in a Lagos squadron of the Mobile Police (MOPOL).
In an official statement Police Public Relations Officer Lagos State Command Ikeja, Lagos SP Benjamin Hundeyin said Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, has taken swift and decisive action, ordering the immediate commencement of disciplinary proceedings against Inspector Kwanchi. This decision comes in light of the officer’s actions being deemed unprofessional, unethical, and inherently dangerous.
The incident, which raised significant concerns among the public, highlights the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to ensuring the integrity and professionalism of its officers. The force has affirmed its unwavering stance against any form of deviant behavior exhibited by its personnel.
