EFCC apprehends 17 suspected internet fraudsters in Benin City

In a decisive move against cybercriminal activities, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Benin Zonal Command, carried out a significant operation on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, leading to the arrest of 17 suspected internet fraudsters in various locations across Benin City, Edo State.

The operation, executed with precision by EFCC operatives, was initiated following credible and actionable intelligence on the illegal activities of these individuals who had been operating in the shadows of the city. These suspects were apprehended at their respective hideouts, collectively believed to be at the forefront of online fraud schemes.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Unvive Tegwolo, Imemesi Daniel, Ojo Osa Tohanmwen, Olise Godspower Ikenna, Kadiri Eric, Yakubu Aliyu Izegwire, Omozuafo Collins, Elect Osayuwa, Destiny Ewere, Ayodele Eugene, Eric Onwusiweka, Okeke Benjamin, Imanah Destiny, Kenneth Anyenibie, Uriel Ogwuezi, Prince Joshua and Ibeje Daniel

The EFCC has successfully seized a range of assets and evidence from the suspects, including a fleet of exotic cars, numerous mobile phones, and laptops used in their illicit online activities.

As the investigation unfolds, the arrested individuals will undergo thorough scrutiny to determine the extent of their involvement in cybercrime and related illegal activities. Once the investigation is concluded, the suspects will be charged and subsequently brought before a court of law to face appropriate legal action.
