The Nigerian Navy has rescued a kidnapped victim, Mr Benedict Eze, in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, following sustained security operations by personnel of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny.
According to Director of Naval Information Captain A. A. Folorunsho, Eze, who was abducted on 23 March 2026 in Aganya Community, was recovered at Coconut Jetty after being abandoned by his captors near the Opuoma waterside. His release is believed to have been triggered by sustained operational pressure mounted by naval personnel.
Security sources indicated that the rescue followed coordinated, intelligence-led patrols supported by technological surveillance and joint operations across land and creeks aimed at blocking escape routes within the Bonny axis.

The victim was subsequently evacuated to a naval medical facility for evaluation and debriefing before being safely reunited with his family.
The successful operation underscores the effectiveness of joint maritime and land-based security efforts by the Nigerian Navy in collaboration with other security agencies to restrict criminal activities within the Bonny–Port Harcourt waterways and adjoining creeks.
The development is in line with the directive of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, to intensify operations against criminal elements within Nigeria’s maritime domain.
The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its commitment to sustained intelligence-driven operations and proactive patrols to enhance security, safeguard lives and property, and ensure perpetrators of criminal acts are brought to justice.
