Troops neutralise insurgents, disrupt terror networks in North-East

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded significant operational gains in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, including the neutralisation of insurgents, arrest of suspects, and disruption of logistics networks across the region.

In a statement Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation HADIN KAI Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said the operations, conducted between March 31 and April 4, 2026, targeted elements of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province operating within the North-East theatre.

In a major breakthrough, troops under Sector 2, deployed in Geidam, Yobe State, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, engaged suspected terrorist logistics suppliers following credible intelligence. Three insurgents were neutralised during the encounter, while a vehicle conveying supplies was disabled. Items recovered included foodstuffs, mobile phones, and other materials believed to be intended for terrorist camps.

In a separate operation along the Konduga–Kawuri axis in Borno State, troops successfully ambushed insurgents attempting to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The engagement resulted in the neutralisation of two terrorists, while weapons and ammunition were recovered. Troops also discovered and safely detonated another IED along the Ngoshe–Pulka road, averting potential casualties.

Further operations in Adamawa State led to the arrest of three suspected insurgents in Mubi North Local Government Area. Troops under Sector 4, working alongside local hunters, conducted the operation. Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects had previously gathered intelligence on troop movements and participated in recent attacks. All suspects are currently in custody for further interrogation.

In another development, troops operating at Mainok market apprehended three individuals suspected of supplying logistics to terrorist groups. Recovered items included livestock, mobile phones, and cash.

Additionally, security forces intercepted a vehicle conveying suspected insurgents in Yobe State. Two occupants were found with gunshot wounds believed to have been sustained during earlier encounters with troops. The suspects, along with recovered communication devices, are in custody.

Ongoing operations across the theatre also resulted in the arrest of informants and collaborators attempting to move between locations, as well as the apprehension of a foreign national under suspicious circumstances at a military checkpoint.

The military said troops have continued to maintain pressure on insurgents, effectively limiting their freedom of movement and operational capacity. It added that all operations were conducted without incident, with personnel demonstrating high morale and professionalism.

The Military High Command commended the troops for their resilience and vigilance, urging them to sustain the operational tempo in the interest of security and economic stability in the North-East region.
