INEC adjusts Osun governorship campaign timeline

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a consequential adjustment to the campaign timeline for the Osun State governorship election following a shift in the poll date.

In a statement issued by National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the Commission recalled that its revised timetable released on February 26, 2026, moved the Osun governorship election forward by one week—from August 8 to August 15, 2026.

Consequently, INEC said the final day for political parties to conduct campaigns in the state is now set for midnight on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in compliance with Section 98(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, which stipulates that campaigns must end 24 hours before election day.

The Commission urged political parties, candidates, and other stakeholders to strictly adhere to the updated schedule.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections.
