NNPC foundation bags health CSR award

The NNPC Foundation Limited, the corporate social responsibility arm of NNPC Ltd., has won the 2025 CSR Champion Award (Health) presented by Independent Newspapers.

In a statement, Chief Corporate Communications Officer NNPC Ltd. Abuja Andy Odeh said the award was conferred at the Silver Jubilee edition of the Independent Newspapers Awards, themed “Game Changers: Breaking Barriers and Shaping Tomorrow,” held at Eko Hotel and Suites on April 18, 2026.

Organisers said the award recognises the Foundation’s impactful healthcare interventions and its broader commitment to improving livelihoods through programmes spanning health, education, environment, and energy access.

The recognition follows a series of health initiatives undertaken by the Foundation, including free cataract screenings and surgeries that restored sight to more than 6,000 Nigerians, cancer and glaucoma interventions, and medical outreaches targeting underserved communities. Other interventions include the renovation and furnishing of three wards with 100 beds at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, as well as partnerships supporting heart surgeries and the distribution of dental care kits to children in special schools.

Speaking on the recognition, the Managing Director of the Foundation, Emmanuella Arukwe, described the award as a validation of the organisation’s efforts and a reflection of public trust.

She attributed the Foundation’s achievements to the support of the NNPC Ltd. management, noting that its backing has strengthened the delivery of social investment programmes nationwide.

Arukwe added that the recognition reinforces the Foundation’s commitment to expanding its impact, particularly in healthcare, as part of broader efforts to contribute to national development.
