Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have neutralised a suspected terrorist and recovered arms and ammunition during an ambush operation in Kogi State.
The operation, carried out under Operation TIGER PAW II, took place along suspected bandit crossing routes within the Adankolo Forest Reserve in Lokoja Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the troops acted on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected terrorists within the area.
He said personnel from the 12 Brigade Quick Response Group laid an ambush at a suspected crossing point in the early hours of Sunday, May 10, 2026.
During the operation, troops reportedly engaged the terrorists in a firefight, killing one suspect, while others escaped into the surrounding forest with gunshot wounds.

Items recovered from the scene included two AK-47 rifles, one locally fabricated pistol, six magazines and 145 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The troops also recovered one camouflage bandolier, a Honda motorcycle, Diclofenac medication, three mobile phones, three power banks and the sum of N62,900.
The Army said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts by the 12 Brigade to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and strengthen security across major routes and communities in Kogi State and neighbouring areas.
Military authorities added that troops are currently conducting follow-up operations in the area to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
