Tinubu congratulates Oyebanji on historic re-election victory

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of the governor’s performance and leadership.

In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly during the election and for renewing their mandate to Governor Oyebanji.

The President also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process, which he said contributed to the peaceful conduct of the poll.

He further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts toward delivering peaceful, free, fair and credible elections, particularly as the country prepares for the Osun State governorship election in August and the general elections next year.

President Tinubu noted that with his emphatic victory, Governor Oyebanji has become the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure re-election consecutively, describing the feat as a significant political milestone.

According to the President, the governor’s first term was characterised by notable achievements in critical sectors, including infrastructure development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare and rural development under the BAO administration’s development agenda.

He said the renewed mandate reflected the confidence of Ekiti residents in continuity, stability and people-centred governance.

The President urged Governor Oyebanji to remain magnanimous in victory and ensure inclusive governance by carrying all segments of the state along as he begins a new term in office.

He also commended other contestants in the election for participating in the democratic process and called on them to join hands with the governor in advancing the development of the state.

President Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more democratic dividends and deepen the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.

He also prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State over the next four years.
