Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a suspected traffic robbery suspect in Abuja and recovered three mobile phones, a dagger and a motorcycle allegedly used in criminal operations.
The suspect, identified as Yahuza Sani, was apprehended on June 21, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m. by officers attached to the Central Police Station (CPS) during a routine anti-crime patrol near the National Hospital in Abuja.
According to the FCT Police Command, the suspect was intercepted while allegedly attempting to rob a female victim of her mobile phone and other valuables. The arrest followed a swift response by undercover patrol operatives strategically deployed in the area following reports of traffic robberies targeting unsuspecting motorists and commuters.
A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of three mobile phones, a dagger and a motorcycle believed to have been used in carrying out the criminal activity.
Police said a second suspected accomplice escaped from the scene and remains at large. Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.
The Command disclosed that the arrested suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
