The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested and paraded more than 13 suspects in connection with alleged cable vandalism, armed robbery, car theft and human trafficking in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and six other states.
The arrests were made by operatives of the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) during intelligence-led operations across the FCT, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, Niger and Kaduna states.
The NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commandant Babawale Afolabi, disclosed this during a press parade at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja and at a crime scene in Yangoji, Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
One of the major breakthroughs involved the arrest of 25-year-old Isaac Zegbe, a former employee of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), over the alleged vandalism of more than 15 kilometres of aluminium electricity conductors along the Yangoji-Abaji axis.
The Corps said the vandalised cables were valued at more than N350 million and were allegedly distributed to marketers across various markets in the FCT.
Following a targeted sting operation, NSCDC operatives recovered a substantial quantity of vandalised electrical cables at Gudu Market and arrested suspected receivers, including Chijoke Christian, who allegedly confessed to knowingly purchasing the stolen cables.
The Corps said it had obtained a court order to seal the shops of merchants allegedly linked to the purchase and sale of the stolen aluminium conductors.
In another intelligence-driven operation, the CG’s SIS dismantled a four-man syndicate allegedly involved in the theft of Toyota vehicles in the FCT and neighbouring states.
The suspects were identified as Adamu Yusuf, Hassan Bukar, Adamu Musa, also known as “Yellow”, and Abdulsalam Isa, also known as “Kada”.
The intelligence unit also apprehended four suspects allegedly linked to an armed robbery gang. They were identified as Nuhu Ndam, Ponbin Lamkur, Yilcwat Sohdan and Ganpyal Dul.
According to the NSCDC, operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle, marked with serial number 3152097, 16 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition and N70,000 cash from the suspects.
In a separate human trafficking investigation, the Corps recovered Micaiah Nana, the last of 16 children allegedly trafficked by Archibong Anderson on January 15, 2026.
NSCDC said persons who allegedly purchased the child had been detained and were assisting investigators with the ongoing investigation.
Other suspects arrested in separate operations include Bilyaminu Musa and Abba Yusuf, who were apprehended over alleged power cable vandalism in the Abuja city centre.
Another suspect, Theophilus Oche Oboii, was arrested in connection with the alleged theft of 15 tractor batteries belonging to the National Agricultural Seeds Council in Kwali. The Corps said the batteries were allegedly sold for N20,000 each.
Items recovered during the operations include a stolen Toyota Camry with registration number YAB 163 EE, cut armoured electrical cables, 15 tractor batteries, master keys, cutting implements, knives and a stolen travel bag containing clothing.
Afolabi said the operations underscored the Corps’ commitment to protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) and disrupting organised criminal networks.
He assured members of the public that the NSCDC would continue to deploy intelligence-led operations against criminal activities and ensure that suspects were brought to justice.
The NSCDC spokesperson said all the suspects would be formally charged to court upon completion of investigations and where a prima facie case was established against them.
