The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has inaugurated the Kano North Senatorial District Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, charging members to mobilise support for all All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates across the district.
Barau, who inaugurated the council in Kano on Tuesday, said the campaign organisation must work for the success of APC candidates from the presidential election down to the State House of Assembly, encapsulated in the slogan, “APC SAK.”
The council is expected to mobilise voters across the 13 local government areas of Kano North for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Barau, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, candidates for the House of Representatives and those contesting the State House of Assembly seats on the APC platform.
According to a statement was signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy Senate President urged members of the council, chaired by the Managing Director of the Hadeja Jama’are River Basin Development Authority and former Secretary to the Kano State Government, Engineer Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Barau described the campaign council as an inclusive platform involving party stakeholders at the ward, local government and senatorial district levels.
He said the broad-based structure had been instrumental to the APC’s political organisation in Kano North and should be maintained ahead of the forthcoming elections.
“This is an all-inclusive arrangement. Everybody is involved, and all stakeholders are part and parcel of this council,” he said.
The Deputy Senate President also urged APC members to move beyond the outcome of the party’s primary elections, stressing that the contest for party tickets had ended and that all members remained part of the same political family.
He encouraged candidates who emerged from the primaries to work with those who contested but were unsuccessful, saying unity would be necessary for the party’s campaign.
“You can see that many of those who contested the primaries but did not secure the tickets are here today. They understand that the party belongs to all of us,” Barau said.
Responding, Bichi pledged that the campaign council would mobilise support for all APC candidates, from the presidential level to the State House of Assembly.
He described Senator Barau as a strong candidate, citing his interventions and contributions across Kano State, and said the campaign council comprised experienced politicians and grassroots mobilisers.
Bichi expressed confidence that the council would work collectively to mobilise voters and secure strong electoral support for APC candidates in Kano North.
The inauguration was attended by members of the campaign council, APC leaders, political stakeholders and supporters from across the 13 local government areas of the Kano North Senatorial District.
