The British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT) has taken a significant step in strengthening military cooperation between the United Kingdom and Nigeria. They engaged participants of the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) Course 7/23 in a week-long lecture on Joint Operations Planning Package: The UK Approach. The sessions were held from Monday, 17th July 2023, to Friday, 21st July 2023, at the Central Lecture Hall, AWCN Abuja.
Major General Ishaya Maina, the Commandant of Army War College Nigeria, expressed his deep appreciation to the BMATT team for their dedicated efforts in providing exceptional training and education to the participants. This gesture further solidified the commitment to bilateral cooperation and strengthened the ties between the armed forces of the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
The BMATT team, led by Colonel Martin David, Commander of Operation TURUS, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and gesture from the College. Their presence at AWCN showcased the UK’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s military development and professionalism.
The week-long lectures were delivered by esteemed guest lecturers, Lieutenant Colonel Paul Dutton (Rtd) and Lieutenant Colonel Monty Wodey (Rtd), representing the BMATT. Throughout the week, the participants gained invaluable knowledge, insights, and best practices from the UK’s approach to joint operations planning. The aim was to enhance the participants’ strategic planning and operational capabilities, fostering collaboration and synergy between the UK and Nigerian military forces.
As a token of appreciation and to symbolize the enduring friendship between the UK and Nigeria, souvenirs were presented to the BMATT team. The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants, recognizing their collective spirit of hard work and dedication in advancing military professionalism and excellence.
