In a concerted effort to restore the Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC) to its former prestige, Major General Bello Tsoho, the Corps Commander Education (CC Edn), has actively sought continuous intervention for Nigerian Army (NA) Command Schools. This appeal transpired during his courtesy visit to Major General Jamal Abudussalam, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, held at Port Harcourt Barracks on November 21, 2023.
Major General Tsoho, articulating the purpose of his inaugural working visit to all command secondary schools in the NA, emphasized the need to identify areas necessitating improvement. During the visit, he called upon commanders in the 6 Division to collaboratively enhance the existing system. The CC Edn expressed gratitude to the GOC for his commendable efforts and implored him to persist in supporting NA schools within the 6 Division Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Acknowledging the importance of collective efforts in realizing the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy, Major General Tsoho stressed the significance of commanders working collaboratively to refine the educational system for future generations.
In response, Major General Jamal Abudussalam, while welcoming the CC Edn, highlighted the transformative impact of effective supervision on command secondary schools’ performance, welfare, and intake. He commended visible improvements in areas such as enrollment, class sizes, and overall supervision standards.
The GOC affirmed Major General Tsoho’s commitment to addressing challenges affecting command secondary schools, aiming to elevate their competitiveness compared to other Service schools. Emphasizing the Division’s prioritization of education, he disclosed ongoing support initiatives, including the construction of a secondary school by the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) and the renovation of the NAOWA Nursery and Primary School to meet high standards.

During the visit, the CC Edn, accompanied by the GOC, conducted a comprehensive facility tour of the proposed site for Command Secondary, Port Harcourt, located in Etche. Lieutenant Colonel Adewale Azeez, the Commandant, briefed the team on the current state of the facility, providing valuable insights for future improvements.
Major General Bello Tsoho’s visit underscores the commitment to fortifying the educational foundation within the Nigerian Army, with a focus on sustained collaboration and continuous improvement in command secondary schools under the purview of 6 Division.
