Tinubu advocates progressive agenda for Nigeria’s development

In a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All-Progressives’ Congress (APC) on Thursday, President Bola Tinubu emphasized the imperative for Nigeria’s progressive movement to prioritize the delivery of quality education for all Nigerian children and employment opportunities for the nation’s youth.

According to his Special Adviser on Media on Publicity Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu underscored the significance of a progressive and inclusive democracy, highlighting the need for a strategic approach to address poverty through job creation and the provision of quality education. During the meeting held in Lagos, he expressed his endorsement for the establishment of the National Institute of Progressive Studies by the APC.

The President emphasized the Institute’s role in conducting thorough research and educating party members on democratic principles and good governance, thereby providing a distinct identity for the party. He expressed optimism about the country’s future, reaffirming his commitment to a robust democracy focused on poverty eradication and educational advancement.

President Tinubu acknowledged the challenges faced by democracy in the past but remained resolute in his belief in a promising future for Nigeria. He pledged his support for a democracy that is both ideologically driven and dedicated to inclusivity and progress.

Recognizing the importance of collaboration with various government branches, President Tinubu commended the party’s leadership for its efforts in promoting these fundamental ideals. He called on the party to actively target more youths and women in its upcoming e-registration and digital membership validation exercise, slated for completion in the first quarter of 2024.

Expressing gratitude to party members for their unwavering support during campaigns and the subsequent electoral victory, President Tinubu acknowledged the demanding nature of his office and the need for increased focus, dedication, and time.

Expressing concern over the rising number of out-of-school children in the country, President Tinubu emphasized the need to address the issue by establishing more schools, recruiting teachers, and providing at least one meal a day for school children. This, he stressed, aligns with the progressive ideology the party aims to pursue.

In response, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC, assured President Tinubu that the NWC is diligently planning for the upcoming bye-elections into National and State legislative houses in February 2024. He pledged the committee’s commitment to winning the support of the people and securing all available seats for the electoral contest.

Ngelale, also conveyed President Tinubu’s appreciation for the overwhelming support received during the campaigns, electoral victory, and the affirmation of his presidency by the Supreme Court. He highlighted the President’s dedication to advancing the progressive ideology of the party and assured that it would be pursued with vigor.
