In a concerted effort to eliminate remnants of terrorists within the Northeast region of Nigeria, the air and ground components of Operation Hadin Kai have achieved notable successes, with recent airstrikes targeting Parisu, Tumbun Agiri, and Tumbun Alura in Borno State.
On January 5, 2024, Operation Hadin Kai conducted a successful operation in Parisu, near the Sambisa Forest, following the observation of terrorists moving suspected weapons and ammunition to the area over several days. Parisu, once a terrorist enclave cleared by own troops, witnessed precision airstrikes that resulted in a significant conflagration, with 12 terrorists neutralized. Surviving terrorists were seen fleeing the area, and crucial logistics were destroyed, hampering their capacity to launch attacks on both soft targets and security forces.
Similarly, on January 6, 2024, airstrikes were carried out approximately 1.5 kilometers southwest of Tumbun Agiri within the Tumbuns in the Lake Chad region. Intelligence reports indicated a continuous gathering of armed terrorists in vehicles and motorcycles in the area. The precise strikes resulted in the destruction of vehicles, motorcycles, and the elimination of several terrorists.
Preceding these operations, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai conducted an air reconnaissance mission on January 2, 2024, leading to successful strikes on opportunity targets at Tumbun Alura. Three canoes loaded with suspected Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) were engaged, resulting in a substantial explosion. Additionally, successful strikes targeted terrorist structures at Tumbun Buwari and Sabon Tumbun within the Lake Chad region.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, confirmed these achievements, highlighting the effective degradation of terrorist capabilities and the safeguarding of the Northeast region. The coordinated efforts of the air and ground components underscore the commitment to eradicating terrorism in Nigeria.
