Major General Bamidele Alabi, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army (NA), has reaffirmed the commitment to enhance and fortify the enduring relationship between the Division and BOVAS.
According to Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Lieut. Col. Polycap Okoye, this assurance was made during a courtesy visit by the GOC to Architect Olusegun Sampson, Chairman of BOVAS and Company Limited, at the company’s headquarters in Bodija housing corporation estate, Secretariat Road, Ibadan.
Expressing gratitude for the longstanding cooperation and support from BOVAS, the GOC acknowledged the pivotal role the company plays in sustaining the activities of the Tiger Golf Club, an initiative for which the Division is appreciative. Major General Alabi emphasized that participation in golf serves as a valuable means of socializing within the barracks community, encouraging the chairman and staff to utilize the Tiger Golf Course for exercise and mental well-being.
Describing the Tiger Golf Club as a facility employed by the 2 Division to engage with the general public, the GOC expressed satisfaction in maintaining this collaboration with BOVAS. He offered prayers for an enhanced and more mutually beneficial partnership.
Major General Alabi highlighted BOVAS’ significance in society, particularly in the prompt and efficient delivery of petroleum products to citizens in Oyo State and beyond.
In response, Architect Olusegun Sampson expressed appreciation to the GOC for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit and emphasized the opportune timing amid the nation’s challenges, emphasizing the need for stronger relationships. Sampson disclosed that his awareness of the Barracks Golf Club came from his son, prompting the company’s support for the Club as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Commending the GOC for opening the Division’s gates to the civil populace for golf activities, Sampson lauded this gesture as a catalyst for effective civil-military relationships.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph, symbolizing the strengthened ties between the 2 Division and BOVAS in fostering civil-military relations.
