In a ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan International Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, adorned thirty-five (35) Senior Police Officers with their well-deserved promotions on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
In a statement Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the newly decorated officers, comprising fourteen (14) Assistant Inspector Generals of Police (AIGs) and twenty-one (21) Commissioners of Police (CPs), were cheered on by their families, friends, and well-wishers.
Among the distinguished officers adorned with their new ranks were AIGs Yetunde Longe, Haruna Gabriel Garba, Tajudeen Akinwale Abass, Julius Alawiri Okoro, George Chijioke Chuku, and CPs Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo, Mohammed Dahiru, Dankombo Faling Morris, and David Iloyanomon, among others.
In tandem with the promotions, IGP Egbetokun announced the immediate posting and redeployment of seventeen (17) AIGs and eighteen (18) CPs. Key appointments include AIG Yetunde O. Longe to AIG Training, AIG Haruna Gabriel Garba to AIG Armament, AIG Rex Dundun to AIG FCID Annex Kaduna, and AIG Durosinmi A. Olatoye to AIG Zone 2 Lagos. Additionally, AIG Afolabi Babatunde Adeniyi will assume duties in AIG Zone 3, AIG Abiodun Oladimeji Asabi in AIG Zone 12 Bauchi, and AIG George Chijioke Chuku in AIG Zone 17 Akure. AIG Paul Alifa Omata will be stationed at AIG Zone 16 Yenagoa, while AIG Yusuf Adesina Akeem, fdc, will oversee AIG Zone 8 Lokoja.
The appointed Commissioners of Police in this strategic redeployment include CP Patrick Atayero to CP EOD, CP Illiyasu Yahaya Kwarbai to CP Admin Airwing, CP Bello Mohammed Sani to CP Force Provost Marshal, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to CP Eastern Port, CP Rose Chollom Dung to CP Welfare, and CP Olarenwaju Ogunlowo to CP Special Intervention Squad.
Congratulating the newly decorated senior officers, IGP Egbetokun underscored the importance of leveraging their wealth of experience in their new roles. He expressed confidence that their contributions would enhance the police force’s pursuit of excellence in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.
