PDP appoints Dr. Edward Adie as DG of PDI

In a strategic move aimed at reinforcing its commitment to robust political engagement, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Dr. Edward Adie, a distinguished academic from the University of Calabar, as the Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI).

The PDI serves as the intellectual and research arm of the party.

In a statement, the party National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba said Dr. Adie’s appointment follows a meticulous interview and selection process conducted by the PDI Governing Board, where he emerged as the most suitable candidate among others considered for the position.

Dr. Adie, a seasoned researcher, and expert in Nigerian Democracy, Political Communication, and Development Discourse, boasts an extensive portfolio with over thirty-five research works published on both international and local platforms. Additionally, he is recognized for organizing numerous international and national academic conferences.

Bringing a wealth of experience to his new role, Dr. Adie is expected to contribute significantly to the PDI’s mission of providing research-based data to enhance democratic practice, electioneering, and governance within the PDP. The PDI has undergone a strategic repositioning to fulfill this crucial role effectively.

It is pertinent to note that the PDI played a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of successive PDP administrations. Notably, it contributed to the unprecedented economic growth of Nigeria between 1999 and 2015, culminating in the handover of a $550 billion economy to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.

The PDP encourages Nigerians, particularly PDP stakeholders, public officials, and policymakers, to leverage the research data generated by the PDI for effective resource management at various levels of engagement.
