In a proactive move to assess and commend the efforts of the 22 Brigade in enhancing security within the region, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq visited the military troops involved in the Still Waters III exercise on Wednesday. The military camp, located in Oro Ago town in Ifelodun local government, has been pivotal in augmenting the safety of lives and properties in the vicinity.
During the visit, Governor AbdulRazaq also undertook a strategic meeting with Oba Johnson Olanrewaju Dada, the Oloro of Oro Ago, at the royal palace. The governor expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Orisa bridge, nearing completion, emphasizing its significance in replacing the colonial passage on the Omu Aran-Oro Ago road constructed in the 1940s. This development is expected to alleviate longstanding concerns about the safety of the community during the rainy season.
Speaking to reporters at the bridge’s embankment, Governor AbdulRazaq commended the pace and quality of the construction, attributing its success to Engr Daramola, a pioneer engineer in the State Ministry of Works. The governor highlighted the bridge as a crucial component of the state’s ongoing infrastructural development initiatives, pledging a sustained commitment to such projects.
The governor’s visit to Oro Ago followed recent inspections of Igbaja and Ora communities, where he engaged with the local populace and evaluated ongoing projects. Notably, Governor AbdulRazaq acknowledged the effective collaboration among various security agencies, crediting their coordinated efforts with significantly improving security across the state.

Addressing the media at the Step Up Headquarters of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army for their dedication to maintaining security. He emphasized the importance of their presence in deterring criminal activities and commended their commitment to ensuring safety beyond the state capital.
Brigadier General AbdulRahman Babalola, the Brigade Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, accompanied the governor during the visit and lauded him for his unwavering support for the operation. General Babalola highlighted the substantial improvement in security since the brigade’s deployment to various locations in the state.
The Oloro of Oro Ago echoed the positive impact of the Still Waters III exercise on the local community, noting a significant enhancement in the area’s overall security. He expressed gratitude to the Kwara State Government and the military officers for their collaborative efforts, stating that the community now enjoys a sense of peace and safety conducive to business transactions.
Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting security initiatives across the state and acknowledged the pivotal role played by the military in maintaining harmony.
