The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has called for enhanced collaboration between the government and security agencies to effectively combat terrorism and banditry.
Ganduje made the appeal on Thursday during a visit to Damaturu, where he led the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to express condolences to the government and people of Yobe State following a deadly attack on Mafa village by Boko Haram insurgents, which resulted in multiple casualties.
Addressing the gathering, Ganduje emphasized the party’s solidarity with Yobe State during this difficult period marked by what he described as a “callous attack and senseless killing of innocent people.” He stated, “We are part of the Yobe family; we feel the pain and sorrow suffered by the government and people of Yobe State, and we are here to condole with our brothers and sisters over this very sad incident.”
He urged the government and security agencies to bolster their cooperation to more effectively tackle the ongoing threats. Ganduje also extended his sympathies to the victims’ families, expressing hope for the state’s recovery.
Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, thanked the APC NWC for their support and for standing with the state in the aftermath of the attack. “This visit gives us a sense of belonging; we feel cared for by the party and the leadership,” Governor Buni said. He reassured the committee of his administration’s commitment to enhancing synergy with security forces, pledging continued support for the army, police, other security organizations, and local vigilante groups to strengthen security across Yobe State.
