The Commander, 6 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3, Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), Brigadier General Abubakar Adamu Bello, has paid courtesy visits to key security agencies in Rivers State to foster stronger institutional collaboration.
In a statement, Acting Deputy Director 6 Division Army Public Relations Lieut. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma said the visits, which took place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, were part of the Commander’s efforts to deepen inter-agency synergy following his recent assumption of duty.
Brigadier General Bello met separately with the State Director of Security, Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Olusola Aguda, and the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Joachin Okafor.
At the DSS office, the Commander stressed the need for collective action in tackling security challenges, noting that “no single service can do anything alone.” He assured the Service of the Army’s readiness to strengthen joint operations, particularly in safeguarding strategic national assets.
In his response, Mr. Aguda described Rivers State as relatively peaceful but highlighted the persistence of illegal refineries, oil theft, and cultism as issues requiring sustained action. He pledged continued collaboration with the Army, while underscoring the centrality of intelligence in operations.
At the NSCDC Command, Brigadier General Bello likened security agencies to components of a single system, warning that inter-service rivalry undermines efficiency. “If a part of the system is not present, the system will malfunction,” he cautioned, while reiterating his commitment to unity of purpose.

Commandant Okafor praised the Nigerian Army’s longstanding support to the Corps, describing the relationship as that of “father and son.” He assured the Commander of the NSCDC’s readiness to strengthen operational cooperation in line with their shared mandate.
The visits, according to the Army, form part of an ongoing strategy to consolidate partnerships that will enhance stability, protect oil infrastructure, and combat security threats in the Niger Delta region.
