Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under the 2 Division, have rescued two kidnap victims, including a woman and her six-month-old child, following a swift response to a kidnapping incident in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The victims were rescued after terrorists reportedly invaded a residence near Solid Rock School in the Ijalu area of Egbe on the night of June 3, 2026, abducting five members of a family.
According to the Nigerian Army, troops, acting on a distress report, immediately mobilised alongside members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and launched a pursuit operation along the kidnappers’ escape route.
Military authorities said the sustained pressure mounted by the combined security team forced the terrorists to abandon Mrs. Adekemi Idowu and her infant child near the Oro axis before fleeing into the surrounding area.
The rescued victims were subsequently reunited with their family, while troops have continued aggressive search operations to secure the release of the remaining abductees and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army.
