Major General SG Mohammed, Chief of Training (Army), emphasized that physical fitness is essential for addressing security challenges. Speaking at the inauguration of the 23 Brigade war gaming simulation exercise, “Ex ZAKI RURI,” at the Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria (LFSCN) in Giri, Abuja, he highlighted the exercise’s role in promoting integration and cooperation among ministries, departments, and agencies in joint operations.

In a statement Acting Public Relations Officer LFSCN Captain Talatu Tafarki said Maj Gen Mohammed stressed the importance of deriving and applying lessons from the exercise to develop effective operational plans. He thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, for his support in providing necessary resources to the LFSCN, urging observers to offer constructive feedback to enhance the 23 Brigade’s operational readiness during the After-Action Review.

In his welcome address, Major General UA Yusuf, Director General of LFSCN, reiterated the importance of training as a cornerstone of the Nigerian Army (NA). Aligning with the COAS’s vision of transforming the NA into a highly trained and effective force, Maj Gen Yusuf emphasized the need for continuous top-notch training to tackle national security challenges.

He revealed that the COAS has mandated all NA units, whether deployed domestically or internationally, to undergo at least one week of war gaming at the LFSCN to refine their operational plans. He urged participants to take the exercise seriously, engage in realistic scenarios, and ensure their feedback enhances training effectiveness.
