- ADC presidential candidate promises transparency, accountability as platform opens for questions on economy, security, jobs
African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has unveiled a technology-driven citizen-engagement platform, Ask AA, designed to provide Nigerians with direct access to him on his political record, policy proposals and plans to address the country’s challenges.
The portal is scheduled to go live at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2026, offering free access to Nigerians seeking answers on issues ranging from the economy and national security to technology, job creation and measures to make life more affordable.
According to a statement by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, the platform will enable citizens to submit questions directly to Atiku, who will personally respond to them, with assistance from his media team.
The initiative is aimed at narrowing the communication gap between political leaders and voters by providing an accessible channel through which Nigerians can obtain information about the former vice-president’s public service record, policy positions and proposed solutions to national problems.
Speaking on the initiative, Shaibu said the platform was conceived to bring Atiku closer to the electorate through a practical and problem-solving approach to political engagement.
“The objective of this initiative is to bring Atiku Abubakar closer to the electorate through a practical, problem-solving platform,” he said.
Shaibu added that the project reflected Atiku’s commitment to deploying modern technology to make governance more efficient, secure and effective.
To extend its reach beyond urban centres and digitally connected communities, the campaign council also plans to introduce a radio interface that would enable Nigerians without internet access to participate in the engagement.
Announcing the initiative on his social media accounts, Atiku described Ask AA as an expression of his belief that leadership should be built on dialogue between those in authority and the citizens they serve.
“Leadership is a two-way conversation,” he said, explaining that the platform was designed to promote transparency, accountability and open communication.
Atiku argued that governance had often appeared distant from ordinary Nigerians because of bureaucratic barriers, stressing that citizens must play a central role in shaping the country’s future.
He said Nigeria’s greatest resource was its people, adding that building the country of citizens’ aspirations required dismantling the barriers between political leaders and the electorate.
“That is why I am launching Ask AA—a direct citizen-engagement platform built for transparency, accountability and dialogue. No filters, no intermediaries,” he said.
The ADC candidate said Nigerians would be free to question his economic record, examine his policy proposals on technology, security and employment, and offer recommendations on how to move the country forward.
He maintained that the platform would welcome policy criticism and ideas from citizens, rather than restrict engagement to questions supporting his political positions.
Atiku also disclosed plans to personally telephone selected participants who provide their contact details, allowing him to hear first-hand accounts of their experiences and the challenges affecting their daily lives.
According to him, the initiative reflects the principle that transparent, technology-driven governance should begin with how leaders listen to citizens, rather than remain a promise for the future.
“A transparent, technology-driven government is not a promise for tomorrow. It begins with how we listen to you today,” he said.
The launch of Ask AA introduces a direct digital engagement strategy into Atiku’s presidential campaign, with its effectiveness likely to depend on the accessibility of the platform, the responsiveness of the candidate and the extent to which citizens’ questions and recommendations receive meaningful attention.
The campaign council said the initiative would provide Nigerians with an opportunity to engage the ADC candidate on issues central to the country’s development and his proposed leadership agenda.
