Bauchi secures $91.6m EBID loan for roads, bridges

Bauchi State has secured a US$91.6 million financing package from the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) to execute 24 strategic road and bridge projects aimed at boosting infrastructure and accelerating economic growth across the state.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed announced the development, describing the funding as a major milestone in the state’s drive to improve transportation infrastructure and unlock greater economic opportunities.

According to the governor, the projects will enhance connectivity between communities, strengthen the state’s transport network, facilitate the movement of people and agricultural produce, improve access to markets and stimulate socio-economic development.

He said the investment would support the government’s broader infrastructure agenda by opening up rural and urban areas, reducing travel time and promoting commercial activities across Bauchi State.

Mohammed commended the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development for its confidence in the state’s development vision, noting that the partnership reflects growing investor trust in the government’s commitment to infrastructure renewal.

The governor assured residents that the funds would be managed with the highest standards of transparency, accountability and fiscal discipline to ensure the successful execution of all 24 projects.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that will improve livelihoods, strengthen economic resilience and drive sustainable development across the state.

The road and bridge projects are expected to enhance regional connectivity, support agricultural value chains and improve access to businesses and essential services, reinforcing Bauchi’s position as a key economic hub in northeastern Nigeria.
