The Yobe State Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC), located at Yobe State University, stands as a beacon of progress in the region. Spearheaded by Dr. Mahmud Bukar Maina, a neuroscientist and native of Yobe, the centre is equipped with advanced research tools such as Zeiss Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopes, Applied Biosystems PCR systems, and other high-tech equipment. These facilities enable groundbreaking research in fields such as malaria, kidney disease, and dementia, making Yobe a focal point for scientific innovation in Nigeria.
Governor Buni’s administration has also invested heavily in the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, enhancing its capacity to deliver top-tier healthcare services. The hospital, now equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, has become a critical hub for both patient care and medical training. Dr. Baba Woru Goni, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, highlighted the administration’s efforts in providing free kidney dialysis, a crucial service given the high prevalence of kidney-related ailments in the state.
