The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has commended Nigerian Air Force personnel for their professionalism and resilience in ongoing counter-terrorism operations, while reaffirming the service’s commitment to sustaining operational momentum.
Speaking at an Easter luncheon held on April 5, 2026, at the Headquarters of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1 in Kaduna, the CAS—represented by the Chief of Accounts and Budget, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal S.A. Bukar—described Easter as a season of sacrifice, hope, and renewal, values he said align closely with military service.
He praised troops serving under the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1 for maintaining a high operational tempo and readiness, noting that their efforts have continued to degrade terrorist elements and enhance security within the theatre of operations.
The CAS reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to strengthening counter-terrorism efforts through sustained mission-oriented training, intelligence-driven air operations, improved logistics, and prioritisation of personnel welfare. He also urged personnel to remain vigilant, disciplined, and resolute, while honouring fallen servicemen who paid the ultimate price in defence of the nation.
Earlier, the Air Component Commander, Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, Air Commodore O.A. Okpara, expressed appreciation for the continued support from headquarters and commended troops for recent operational successes. He noted that precision strikes, armed reconnaissance, and surveillance missions have significantly disrupted the activities and mobility of terrorist and criminal groups in the joint operations area.
The event featured cultural performances, musical displays, and recreational activities aimed at boosting morale and strengthening esprit de corps among personnel. In a symbolic gesture of leadership and camaraderie, the Special Guest of Honour, alongside the Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Esen Paul Efanga, and other senior officers, personally served meals to troops.
The Nigerian Air Force said the event underscores its continued focus on troop welfare, operational effectiveness, and the sustained fight against terrorism in defence of the country’s territorial integrity.
