The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, has pledged to ensure the implementation of 13 cooperation agreements recently signed between Nigeria and China during President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to China. Speaking to journalists at the Chinese Embassy in Abuja, Dunhai emphasized the significance of Tinubu’s visit in advancing China-Nigeria bilateral relations and noted that the agreements marked a new chapter in the partnership between the two nations.
Ambassador Dunhai highlighted that the agreements cover various sectors, including high-quality Belt and Road cooperation planning, economic growth, human resources, application of the Beidou Satellite Navigation System, export of peanuts to China, and media exchanges. One of the agreements includes 19 projects involving cooperation between both countries, alongside multiple arrangements signed between state governments, departments, and Chinese companies.
Dunhai underscored his mission to ensure that all the agreements are fully realized, stating, “That is exactly my mission and task. That is my priority.” He noted that both sides would follow through on the agreements, anticipating increased activity with numerous delegations from China visiting Nigeria and vice versa.
The ambassador expressed his commitment to collaborating with various sectors in Nigeria to bring the agreements to fruition, saying, “As the new Chinese ambassador, I look forward to working with people from all walks of life to bring China-Nigeria relations to a new height.”
Dunhai also stressed the broader implications of President Tinubu’s visit, highlighting China’s willingness to strengthen coordination with Nigeria in multilateral affairs and to jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries. He expressed optimism about the upgraded bilateral relations, stating that the closer cooperation would enhance trade values and deepen ties between China and Nigeria.
