Christmas: EFCC chairman envisions a corruption-free Nigeria

As Nigerians join the global community in celebrating Christmas, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has reaffirmed his optimism for a greater Nigeria free from economic and financial crimes.
In his Christmas message on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, Mr. Olukoyede highlighted the values of light, joy, hope, truth, and liberty exemplified by the birth of Jesus Christ. He described these virtues as essential pathways toward integrity and a zero-tolerance stance on corruption.
“I deeply believe in our nation’s potential for growth and development. The Christmas season provides an opportunity to reignite these possibilities. By embracing the values of light, joy, hope, truth, and liberty, we can make Nigeria a better place,” he said.
He acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attributing the EFCC’s achievements over the past 18 months to the President’s strong political will and leadership. “Nigerians can clearly see President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to tackling corruption. The progress made by the EFCC would not have been possible without his active support,” Mr. Olukoyede stated.
The EFCC Chairman also commended the judiciary for its professionalism, integrity, and courage, which have bolstered the Commission’s anti-corruption efforts. “The dedication of our Justices and Judges has strengthened our mission, and I encourage them to continue on this path of justice and equity,” he said.
Mr. Olukoyede extended his gratitude to the media, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders for their steadfast collaboration, promising greater achievements in the year ahead.
In closing, he wished Nigerians a joyful Christmas and a prosperous 2025, urging all citizens to embrace the season’s values as a catalyst for national transformation.
