Clark commends Dangote, urges President Tinubu to support local refineries

Chief Sen. Dr. E. K. Clark, National Leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, has extended his heartfelt commendations to Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON, for the successful completion of the Dangote Refinery and the rollout of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) on September 3, 2024. He praised the refinery’s expected nationwide supply, set to begin on October 15, 2024, as a major step forward for Nigeria’s energy security and economic growth.

In a statement representing the South-South geopolitical zone, Dr. Clark applauded Dangote’s visionary leadership, which he said had once again placed Nigeria on the global map. He noted that the refinery’s impact on domestic production, job creation, and reducing Nigeria’s reliance on fuel imports would be transformative.

“Thanks to this monumental project, the long-standing struggles of fuel shortages and long queues at filling stations may soon be behind us,” Clark remarked.

While lauding Dangote’s contributions, including his philanthropic efforts such as distributing rice across the country, Dr. Clark called on other entrepreneurs to emulate his commitment to national development. He also encouraged Dangote to explore similar projects in the Niger Delta region.

Dr. Clark commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, under whose administration this historic achievement was realized. He urged the President to sustain support for the refinery by ensuring a steady supply of crude oil to meet the refinery’s capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, as well as preventing excessive fuel pricing that could burden Nigerians.

Clark also reminded President Tinubu of the need to revisit the policy of establishing modular refineries in the Niger Delta, a policy initiated by former President Muhammadu Buhari, which promised a Special Fund for its implementation.

He concluded by celebrating the return of national pride after nearly 30 years of dependence on imported petroleum products, and expressed hope that this achievement would have a lasting positive impact on Nigeria’s economy.

“I congratulate all Nigerians on this remarkable milestone and wish Alhaji Dangote, President Tinubu, and their teams continued success in shaping a brighter future for our nation,” Dr. Clark stated.
