CoAS evaluates troops’ combat preparedness in Makurdi, pledges infrastructure enhancement in barracks

The Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, conducted an operational visit to the 401 Special Forces Brigade in Makurdi, Benue State, on Thursday, November 30, 2023. This visit is part of his comprehensive tour of Nigerian Army (NA) formations and units nationwide.

The purpose of the duty tour was to assess the combat readiness of the troops, aligning with the COAS’s ongoing efforts to strengthen and rejuvenate current operations, aiming to effectively address prevailing security challenges across the nation.

Addressing the troops during the visit, CoAS Lagbaja conveyed his gratitude for their dedicated service to the nation and encouraged them to sustain their commitment to preserving peace and stability. He emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and professionalism while carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.

As a testament to the Nigerian Army’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure within its barracks, General Lagbaja inaugurated a 7.5-kilometer road project meticulously constructed by the Nigerian Army Engineers at the Joe Akahan Military Cantonment.

The CoAS urged the Barracks community to value and preserve the newly commissioned road. Furthermore, he assured them of the NA’s continued efforts to provide additional infrastructure and social amenities, aimed at improving the well-being of soldiers and their families.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, provided this update on November 30, 2023, highlighting the CoAS’s dedication to strengthening the Nigerian Army’s capabilities and supporting the welfare of its personnel.
