TotalEnergies Exploration and Production (E&P) marked a significant milestone with the ground-breaking and foundation laying ceremony for a hospital ward at the 6 Division Medical Services and Hospital (DMSH) in Port Harcourt Barracks. This endeavor is a testament to the company’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within the 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA) community.
According to Acting Deputy Director 6 Division Army Public Relations Lieut. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, the inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. Guillaume Dulout, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Joint Ventures Asset, TotalEnergies E&P, who conveyed the company’s gratitude for the tireless efforts and sacrifices of the Nigerian Army in ensuring the safety and well-being of the populace. Mr. Dulout emphasized TotalEnergies’ dedication to reciprocating this commitment through initiatives such as the construction of the hospital ward.
During the event, Mr. Dulout extended condolences to Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and the entire NA, following the tragic loss of 17 officers and soldiers at Okuama in Delta State. He condemned the incident as barbaric and lamentable.
Acknowledging the longstanding partnership between TotalEnergies and the Nigerian Army, Mr. Dulout pledged unwavering support to enhance the health and living conditions of troops within the Division.
Major General Jamal Abdussalam reciprocated the appreciation, commending TotalEnergies for its commitment to CSR in host communities, including the 6 Division. He highlighted the significance of the hospital ward project and expressed satisfaction that the company had fulfilled his earlier request, demonstrating its dedication to safety, education, and economic empowerment within host communities.
Emphasizing the mutual respect and collaboration between 6 Division NA and TotalEnergies, Major General Abdussalam reiterated the Division’s commitment to providing a secure environment for all Nigerians to conduct their activities seamlessly.
The ceremony featured key moments such as the foundation laying ceremony, souvenir presentations, group photographs, and tree planting at 6 Division biodiversity sites.
