The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oyo/Osun Area Command, has entered into a pioneering partnership with the Gemstone Leadership Institute and Justice for Value Initiative, aimed at elevating service excellence and leadership proficiency among its Senior Officers.
This strategic alliance was formalized through a press statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Customs Kayode Wey, on Thursday, 7th March 2024.
The culmination of this collaboration was marked by a specialized training session held at the Command’s Conference Room, focusing on Excellence in Service and Leadership Training for 50 Command Senior Officers.
Conducted in two batches, from Monday, 26th to Wednesday, 28th February 2024, and subsequently from Monday, 4th to Wednesday, 6th March 2024, these training sessions were spearheaded by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Ben Oramalugo.
In emphasizing the significance of continual learning and enhancement within the command, the CAC highlighted the esteemed reputation of the Gemstone Leadership Institute in providing transformative leadership training programs, complemented by Justice for Value Initiative’s dedication to promoting ethical conduct and value-centric leadership.
Aligning with the policy directives of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, the CAC underscored the training’s focus on consolidation, collaboration, and innovation, affirming its potential to significantly enhance service delivery and overall leadership within the Command.
Looking forward, Oramalugo disclosed the Command’s intent to explore further collaborative endeavors with Gemstone Leadership Institute and Justice for Value Initiative, aiming to enhance the professional development opportunities for its officers. He stated, “This partnership underscores the Command’s dedication to investing in the continuous professional growth of its officers, with a shared objective of fostering excellence, leadership, and ethical conduct in the public service sector.”
Throughout the three-day workshop, customized modules were designed to achieve three primary objectives:
Excellence in Service: Emphasizing the importance of delivering service with excellence, efficiency, and professionalism, aligned with the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service.
Leadership Development: Providing specialized leadership modules focusing on effective communication, decision-making, and team management to augment the leadership capabilities of the Senior Officers.
Ethical Conduct: Underscoring the significance of upholding ethical standards and fostering a culture of integrity and transparency within the Customs Area Command.
