Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, the Acting Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, reiterated his commitment to maintaining the Service’s leadership in safeguarding the lives and properties of Nigerians through enhanced officer training. This statement was made during a visit by Ayodele Adeleke, the Commandant of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), and his delegation to the Customs Corporate Headquarters in Abuja on September 6, 2023.
The Acting CGC stressed the importance of jointly enhancing the integrity of Customs officers and personnel, emphasizing that ensuring security in Nigeria requires a collaborative effort. He also highlighted the significance of organizing capacity-building workshops and assured the NISS delegation of the Service’s continued support for the institute.
Members of the Customs management team and NISS alumni expressed their gratitude for the opportunities provided by NISS.
Commandant Ayodele Adeleke mentioned that NISS is currently conducting research on “Globalization and Regional Economic Integration, Implications for Sustainable Development in Africa.” He further emphasized that the visit aimed to focus on a training program beneficial to Customs’ management, officers, and personnel, and reiterated NISS’s readiness to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service to achieve excellence.
The National Institute for Security Studies serves as a hub for security studies, research, capacity building, and staff development, among other functions.
