Defection: PDP governors, party leaders meet in Abuja

Governors of Osun, Plateau, Oyo, and Adamawa States — Ademola Adeleke, Caleb Mutfwang, Seyi Makinde, and Ahmadu Fintiri — have arrived at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja for a high-level Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders meeting.

They were joined by the Governors of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, and Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, as well as several prominent party figures, including PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum; Secretary of the Board of Trustees and former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi; and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Other notable attendees include former Governors Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Bukola Saraki (Kwara), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Adamu Muazu (Bauchi), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom).

The meeting, convened by the PDP Governors’ Forum, brought together former governors, members of the Board of Trustees, and the National Working Committee to deliberate on pressing party matters. Key issues on the agenda include the position of the National Secretary, preparations for the upcoming National Elective Convention, the National Executive Committee meeting scheduled for May 27, and strategies to address recent defections from the party.
