Defence minister orders urgent review of military operations after terror attacks

The Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), has disclosed that an emergency combat audit was held with Nigeria’s Service Chiefs following recent brazen terrorist attacks in parts of the country.

The meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja, focused on reassessing ongoing military strategies and strengthening operational responses to emerging security threats.

According to the minister, although many of the tactical adjustments and troop movements remain classified for operational security and mission effectiveness, the Service Chiefs have been directed to immediately recalibrate military operations across multiple theatres.

He explained that the renewed strategy aims to dismantle the networks of terrorists and bandits threatening national stability. The Service Chiefs, he added, are now exercising direct on-site command in key operational areas to enhance coordination and sustain pressure on criminal groups.

Gen. Musa said the emergency audit involved a comprehensive review of Nigeria’s national military strategy to ensure swift and decisive action against all threats.

He noted that despite ongoing challenges, security forces have made notable progress by neutralising several core terrorist commanders and disrupting the operational structures of insurgent groups.

The minister reassured Nigerians that the Armed Forces remain fully committed to restoring peace and will sustain operations until terrorist and bandit networks are completely dismantled.
