The Chief of Defence Operations (CDOPs), Major General EV Onumajuru, on Tuesday, 30 July 2025, paid a working visit to Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) in Jos, Plateau State, to assess the conduct of ongoing security operations and gain firsthand insight into the situation within the Joint Operations Area (JOA).
According to Media Information Officer, Operation SAFE HAVEN Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, he was received at Headquarters OPSH by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, OPSH, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, who described the visit as a morale booster for troops and a reinforcement of efforts to tackle insecurity in the region.
General Oyinlola outlined the key triggers of insecurity in the JOA and stressed the importance of community-based support networks in complementing the work of security forces.
In his address, Major General Onumajuru commended OPSH for its dedication in managing a complex security landscape and urged troops to sustain aggressive operations against criminal elements. He also emphasized the importance of civil-military relations, which he described as a cornerstone of effective internal security strategy.
He further called on troops to dominate criminal movement corridors and strengthen collaboration with other security agencies to enhance intelligence gathering. The CDOPs also assured that the Chief of Defence Staff remains committed to providing additional combat enablers to enhance troop performance.
During the visit, the CDOPs was conducted on an operational tour of Sector 8 in Mangu, where he was briefed by the Sector Commander, Colonel SO Fagbemi. The day’s engagements included an operational briefing, interactive session with personnel, signing of the visitor’s book, group photograph, and inspection of OPSH sectors.
