In a solemn display of solidarity, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, led a delegation comprising senators from various regions to extend condolences to the victims of a recent bomb attack in Tudun Biri town, Igabi local government, Kaduna State. The delegation, which included all 109 senators of Nigeria, expressed their heartfelt sympathy for those affected by the tragic incident.
During the visit, Senator Barau announced a substantial contribution to aid the victims, stating that the entire Senate had collectively decided to donate their December salaries, amounting to 109 million Naira. The gesture underscores the senators’ commitment to supporting the affected families and communities in the aftermath of the devastating attack.
The delegation was received at the Kaduna State Government House by Governor Uba Sani, who welcomed the senators and acknowledged their empathetic response to the crisis. Senator Barau emphasized that the donated funds would be handed over to Governor Uba Sani for equitable distribution among the victims and their families.
“We are here to show our support and assure the people of Kaduna, particularly those in Tudun Biri, that we stand united with them during this difficult time. We will do everything within our power to provide assistance to those affected by this tragic incident,” Senator Barau stated.
He offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed and the swift recovery of those injured. Senator Barau also pledged that the Senate would ensure that all necessary measures were taken to address the perpetrators of the attack and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Addressing the ongoing response efforts, Senator Barau revealed, “The Senate has already engaged with the President, who has expressed deep concern and has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident. We stand in solidarity with the executive branch and remain committed to collaborating in efforts to understand and prevent such tragic incidents.”
The Deputy Senate President concluded by affirming the Senate’s dedication to working closely with the government to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack and implement measures to safeguard the community from future threats.
