The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, touched down in Ilorin, Kwara State, today to formally receive the last two Diamond-62 aircraft acquired for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) by the Federal Government.
These state-of-the-art aircraft, upon deployment to the battlefront, are poised to enhance the NAF’s effectiveness in countering terrorism and insurgency.
The arrival of the Diamond-62 aircraft marks a significant milestone in the efforts of the NAF to bolster its operational capabilities.

These aircraft, which represent the cutting edge of aviation technology, are expected to serve as vital assets in Nigeria’s ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.
Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, alongside high-ranking officials from the Nigerian Air Force, Federal Government, and other dignitaries, gathered at the Ilorin International Airport for a ceremony to welcome and unveil the two newly acquired aircraft.
The Diamond-62 aircraft is known for its versatility and ability to excel in a wide range of mission profiles, including intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and precision strike missions. Their integration into the NAF’s existing fleet is expected to greatly enhance the force’s ability to gather vital information and conduct surgical airstrikes with precision.
As the new aircraft join the NAF’s fleet, all eyes are on the nation’s military as they prepare to maximize the capabilities of the Diamond-62 to ensure the safety and security of the nation’s citizens and to quell the ongoing threats of terrorism and insurgency.
